We Continue to Move Forward

In 2013, I entered my first term on council as the Mayor of High River. Over the past 12 years, I have had the privilege of working with 3 councils of amazing individuals (Emile Blokland, Don Moore, Cathy Couey, Bruce Masterman, Jamie Kinghorn, Carol MacMillan, Dragan Brankovich, Michael Nychyk, Peter Loran, Brenda Walsh, Jamie Barton, Kelly Smit, and Jenny Jones). Our goal starting in 2013 was to rebuild High River better than ever, and I can honestly say that all of us made the difficult decisions needed to pull off this goal. I look back now, and I believe we exceeded our own expectations. This last term saw Council take on a major project to move our community forward and update our aquatics facility, and a renovation to the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Centre. No project comes without controversy, and the pool project is no different - a difficult and challenging decision on a project of this magnitude, but a very important one to provide the quality of life our residents deserve in High River.

High River is now in an excellent position to continue to move forward and to build off this momentum. It is not easy - it takes a lot of work and the ability to make the difficult decisions while holding your personal integrity intact. When I make my decision to vote on any motion, it is always made in order to do what I feel is right for the community as a whole, and nothing else.

My wife Lindsay, son Oren and daughter Elle love our life in High River and what it offers. We are excited for High River, and we want it to continue to progress and move forward.

With the experience and relationships I have gained over the last 12 years as Mayor, I know the next council will continue Moving High River Forward. I want to continue this ride with you & lead the next council as your Mayor for the next 4 years.
